The beautiful golf course at Valle del Sol is internationally renowned for playing fair, as well as being challenging. This Central Valley course sits peacefully within the natural harmony of scenic waters, lush fairways, and well-designed greens. Living up to its Spanish name, "Sun Valley", this course is blessed with sun and perfect golfing weather the whole year round. And maybe, just maybe, the best thing that has ever happened to San Jose.
This 18 hole Championship, Par 72, Golf Course stretches for 6,750 gently sloping yards. Its well-groomed fairways, separated by tropical trees, colourful gardens, and small lakes, double as wildlife habitats for migratory birds, native waterfowl and freshwater fish. With the nearby mountains always within view, and the mixture of unusual landscapes filled with intensely flowering gardens, Valle del Sol enjoys a distinctive Costa Rican tropical atmosphere.
Connected by several small streams, fifteen separate lakes are surrounded by near perfect fairways and uniquely sculpted greens. Their bermuda grass rolls fast and true. Coming into play, strategically placed fairway bunkers and greenside sand traps complement the exciting challenge and natural beauty found at Valle del Sol.
Every hole at the beautiful Valle del Sol golf course has at least four individual tee positions to play. So whether playing long from the back tees for the professionals and tournaments, or from the shorter tees for the less experienced golfers and those who prefer approaching greens with shorter irons, this exciting course is a fun and memorable experience for all those fortunate to have had the opportunity to play here.
Valle del Sol, with its gently sloping fairways, is a very enjoyable and easy golf course to walk. However, an excellent paved cart path weaves around the course’s 18 holes, offering beautiful vistas at every turn of its garden-like atmosphere and the nearby towering mountains towards the south.
Valle del Sol has an excellent on-site driving range, and professional golf instructions are also available if desired. Complete sets of Taylor Made and Dunlop golf clubs have been made available for rent for those golfers who wish not to travel with their golf clubs, or who happen to be in Costa Rica on a non-golfing holiday. These include clubs for ladies and lefties as well.

Costa Rica's Valle del Sol Golf Course was designed by the international golf course architect, Tracy May. With 15 beautiful lakes and several streams located around the course, water comes into play on 16 of Valle del Sol's 18 holes. Each hole was designed with at least four separate tee positions, making this exciting tropical golf course equally playable by all levels of golfers. All of its hazards were strategically placed to reward good shots and to punish the poor. Its largish greens were especially sculpted to provide a variety of interesting pin placements for daily and tournament play.
